I don't usually snipe but when i do its always with the KAR. It's sights are less intrusive and allow to make easier shots on people who are on the move.

Hey DaFladow, I just think the KAR sniper rifle is superior compared to the Allied one is because of the scope. The Allied scope simply blocks your view...You know the vertical line? The KAR scope doesn't block your view, that's how I compare em'

I totally agree with you on everything

EA really got it right with the Mauser.

1) The bolt was real close to the trigger allowing for a real quick reload and a faster rate of fire than the Springfield. So if two sniper fre at once and miss the German snip[er will have the advantage.

2)The "T" crosshair makes the field of vision so much better.

3) Yes it does sound much better.

More negative waves Moriartii! Have a litte faith baby, have a little faith.

Yep, I would also take the Mauser K98. The scope is way better than the Springfield's because of its "T" crosshair; the reload times are much faster too. As for sound, I kinda like the Springfield's better.

if yooure a stickler for reality you should also mention that the german optics throughout the war(including something as small as the sniper scope) were far superior to their allied counter-parts.

in this game they re identical with only the crosshair to differentiate the two.

You could probably change the crosshairs for the rifles...

DaFladow 01-28-2002 09:04 AM

My main role in my clan is as a sniper. I have been experimenting with the allied and axis sniper rifles, and i have come to these conclusions. Please tell me if my assumtions are accurate, and what rifle you prefer and why.

1) I absolutely hate the crosshairs on the Springfield. The upper croshair is not necessary, and it only blocks the view of your tragets upper body, so you cant tell where his head is from his torso. Makes it hard to snipe when all the target is doing is sticking his head out.

2) I have noticed, correct me if im wrong, that the springfield has a longer delay between shots, and between the time you click the mouse and the actual time the bullet fires than the Mauser. I know your initial thoughts " hes probly on 56k thats why" or "hes lagging", but no im a cable ISP with a 41 ping usually.

3)On a less important side the Mauser seems quieter to me... oh wells.

Oh, and please post any of your observations. about recoil and stuff.

Post your replies, and your choice of rifle and thanks.

I like the Mauser better.

1) I think it actually has faster reload times (i.e., the time it takes to pull the bolt back and shove another bullet in). In single player, this is true, but I'm not sure in multiplayer.

2) I think it sounds a hell of a lot better...

3) You're right about the crosshair thing. I don't like it either.

thanks for the feedback. I really hate that Springfield scope.

DaFladow
I agree with you 100%, but, I'm a allied sniper.... I'd drop it anyday to pick up a mauser though...

mercenary 01-28-2002 10:13 AM

I would have to agree with you on this, I like the mauser more because of the...
1)Sound
2)Crosshair
3)In most maps I prefer to be AXIS

I think that the springfield Xhair should be a few pixels narrower so it is easier to pull off long shots with rifle, and so you can see your target behind the crosshair.

Patton 01-28-2002 10:52 AM

I actually prefer the sights on the springfield more. I seem to be able to follow a target easier with them. I don't know why exactly, but I can shoot moving targets MUCH easier with it.

BMillis 01-28-2002 11:37 AM

Springfield....
Takes a little more to get a head shot....
