World War II Memorial
Anyone actually been there yet? What are your thoughts? I think its very appropriate for those it is intended to pay tribute towards, and it fits within the mall rather nicely. Best part for me was seeing two vets meet for the first time, it was like they knew each other their entire lives. By the time I finished walking the memorial, they were still there talking. being a broke-ass college boy in Kansas I don't think I'll be up there in a while; but I'll try as soon as its reasonable.
Anyone else find it rather sad that it took 60 years for a national WWII memorial? When I found out we didn't have one for all those years I was pretty pissed. |
Theres a whole group of smaller ones representing different branches, divisions or events. Nothing "monumental" like this though.

Anywhere from Pearl Harbor to Normandy. Perhaps that is why it took so long for this memorial. |
where is this ww2 memorial?

Washington D.C.

On the mall between the Washingon and the Lincoln Memorial.
