newbie question about players skins.
How do you make the skins work in the games?
I have the MOHAA battlechest installed (all 3 games) I downloaded a skin and put it into the /maint folder in multiplayer games (spearhead online) when i chose that skin in the options it won't show up in the game (it just shows up as a default player). i'm probably doing something wrong, just don't know what. help would be appreciated. |
the server may have CI running and allow only stock skins.

you could make that skin replace a skin you dont like then it will show up on any server
|
skin.
you mean rename it?
i don't see the other skins in the maint or mainta directories.... that's where i got lost... |

i always use pakscape. though i didn't realize it was that old, then again i've only been modding for the last 1.5 years.

.tik, fps_.tik & scripts are in pk0.3 .tga (textures) are in pk2.3 |
now what?
OK so i used pakscape / wally to open the pak0.pk3 file.
which directory to put the new skin into? how to do it? do i have to break up the skin pak.pk3 file also and merge it with the pak0.pk3 directory? will be skin be seen on the server during internet games? |
ok u made the skin and saved as tga files, made the tiks, and made the shader files correct? create a new document in pakscape. create 3 folders in it named textures models and scripts. drag the shader file into scripts. now in models create a folder called player. drag the tik files into the player folder. now in textures, create the folders in which the path is in the shader. lets say u used the pilot and kept the path. justmake a folder in textures named models. then in models a folder named human, and in human a folder called usmaps, and finally in usmaps a folder named pilot and drag the tga files in there. heres a picture of the paths...
the textures one can be a hassle sometimes... so in ur shader file, just make the path textures/(nameoffile).tga. then just put the tga files into ur textures folder. hope i helped... |
