I downloaded the demo, looks neat, but my graphics are all messed up. Namely the menu screen is REALLY messed up. Now I searched the forums and found a fix for changing the voodoo value using notepad. The menus SORT of work now, but are still not right and its really hard to read stuff.
So, If I buy the full version will it work with my voodoo? Is there some kind of better fix? I believe my drivers are up to date. I have a Voodoo 4500 should it matter. Yes I know, if I could buy a new card I would, but my mother board is old and does not support geforce cards. Yes, i could buy a new motherboard too, but then my CPU is of the old slot types too... You see where this is going? Suffice it to say, gettting a new video card= new computer. So, please, is there just a way to make a Voodoo work here? Thank you. |
There is a fix for the voodoo cards but I don't know what it is. I'll bump your post for ya cause I know someone here knows the answer.
BUMPITY BUMP! |
I use the same graphics chip as you... In the full version, the menu is a bit messed, but all the rest of the game is fine.. I run it fine http://www.alliedassault.com/ubb/smile.gif

Voodoo 2 here, game wont run either i get an Error in MOHAA.exe (Windows ME so there is no error output unless it's stored in an external log file) anyways tried the latest GLsetup drivers and No go, renamed 3dfxgl.dll into opengl.dll and didn't work, now i tried renaming the 3dfxvgl.dll and naming it into 3dfxgl.dll ect ect when i do that i get an error in GlideX2.dll with my drivers (both sets), demo's worked perfect but this full wont even start up, When the console loads (when you click the game exe) it get's down to Opengl and ends up unloading OGL and starts assuming 3dfxvgl.dll is a standalone driver and trys to run and fails, tried different resolutions and always on 16 bit colour, the default OpenGL.dll doesn't work with the voodoo 2 so you gotta rename the 3dfxgl.dll ICD into Opengl.dll but it still doesn't run, Auto detect picks up my S3 card (3D Accelerator) which i use with my Voodoo 2. Anyways Auto detect selects that and mode OpenGL, since i can't manually select my Hardware devices i think i'm totally screwed. http://www.alliedassault.com/ubb/frown.gif

Okay, so it will work in full version? How bad are the menus? On mine (demo), the graphics have boxes around them which cover the text on most things (ie, i cant read the "gamma correction" tag on the gamma bar, but have to guess its effect by moving the bar).
However, if the IN game stuff is okay, I could live with it. I just want to be sure as my local store is getting to be more militant about returns and im a bit worried still. Anyone have a good work around for voodoos or links to pages that do? Thanks again. |
Go to Voodoofiles.com. There may be a driver file there that can help you. They are 3rd party drivers, however,so you will be on your own if there is a problem.

the menu is all that is messed in fact the sp demo came with a 3dfx menu fix, which im guessing the full version has too.
Your 4500 should work fine with mohaa, I wouldnt recommend trying 3rd party drivers or anythign else for that matter if its just some menu buttons out of place. Ive known it to further screw up on people, specially some who took 2015's (and others )suggestion and installed the wicked3gl drivers. |
I have a voodoo 4500 and the game plays great. For the options fix you need to go to your Program Files, to EA games, to MOHAA, to main. Then go to the newconfig. file, once there go to the bottom and type in seta ui_voodoo 1 . This will fix the options. Then go to metabyte.com and download the older version of wickedgl. Follow the loading instuctions and you will be set. Hope this helps.
