I live in the UK and will be buying the game as soon as it is released, however I have a small problem with the SP demo.
I have the following machines: P3 700mhz 256 MB SDRAM Geforce 2 MX 400 64MB (Latest ELSA Drivers) P4 1400mhz 512 MB RAMBUS RAM Geforce 2 MX 400 64MB (Latest Detonator Drivers) The Second computer is much faster than the first and yet they both get the same FPS. Almost exactally the same, which seems really odd. But the main problem is smoke, when I destroy the Half-Track or approach the destroyed vehicle at the very start the smoke bellowing out from the wreckage drops the FPS to under 10. This is bareable unless you are looking at the smoke through a sniper rifle, which is necessary to sniper soldiers coming from the direction the half-track came in. Otherwise I get a solid 40. I am running the game with All Max Detail, 1024x768 32bit, but features like Dynamic lighting and the volumetric smoke, or whatever, feature in the advanced has been disabled for the sake of FPS. Any ideas? |
Nope. This is a problem everyone is having. Obviously they coded in the smoke effects without much regard for your fps.
Anyone who runs up to the smoke as close as possible will see fps go straight to hell. The only way to stop these slow downs is to lower the "Effects Detail" setting in Advanced. I have to put it all the way down to Low in order to stop the framerate from turning into shit. All it does anyway is changes how much "smoke lag" is enumerated.. ------------------ American...I like American. Steamboat Willy, toot-toot. :) Nooo! Please! I like American! Fancy Shmancy. What a cinch. Go fly a kite. Cat got your tongue? Colored beans! Betty boop, what a dish. Betty Grable, nice gams. :D I say can you see? I say can you see? I....I say... Fuck hitler. FUCK HITLER! Shut up with that filthy pig latin! http://www.multimania.com/triau/images/spr23.jpg |
Does MOHAA run exclusivly in Direct 3D or can the rendering mode be changed in the full game. If it supports Open GL then I was thinking that a nice utility like GLSETUP would sort me out. If not does anyone know of Direct 3D tweeking tools?
