Just set the old one as slave on the new.

few questions
are you wanting it as the master or as a slave if you want to install xp on it - your going to have to reformat it because when you change the mb - it's best and sometimes neccessary to format eek: |

beter yet, have sex with short hand |
If your going to have it as master youll need to reformat it. My suggestion is to get a cheap 40 gig hard drive to hold just the OS and maybe a few other apps. Then store everything else on your current drive which would be set as slave.

Are you getting a new CPU&MB?Cause if so you need new windows XP..Ms defines a computer as a CPU+motherboard so if you replace those you have a new computer.Unless you got some keyboard drivers oOo:
|
if it's master, your going to have to format
that harddrive is going to boot, with the idea that it's booting with the old motherboard and when it gets feedback like "hey this is a new motherboard, and i don't have the drivers and crap for it'' chances are you'll get the blue screen of death just reinstall xp - and format it thru the xp cd install it'll be fine biggrin: |

Short answer = Reformat
Reason = New mobo most likely has new chipset making booting from old H/D impossible. Just reformat and be on your merry way. |
they say you really shouldnt just take the hard drive out and put it in expecting it to work. it could work, but its not good for the hard drive. you should reformat the hard drive first.
