Fook Doom3

my bro just gave me Doom3 as an early bday present. I installed it and all, an i try to run it. it cant run for SHIT. im so disappointed. its so laggy and unbearable.

I cleared processes and lowered my quality and rez. anything else i can do? can someone link me to that ATI doom3 drivers.

my comp specs are 1.6 ghz, radeon 9200, dual channel 512 mb ddr sdram.
i know my comp sucks...

set everything or low ... adjust teh graphics setting and turn all that shit off.

Jotun 08-16-2004 06:33 PM

my settings are on medium and 640x480 or whatever. i'll try low quality later.

fujimi7su 08-16-2004 06:33 PM

if it dont work on low, get a new vid card

Short Hand 08-16-2004 06:45 PM

it should work for you, it runs great on my old system on medium.

m00nraker 08-16-2004 07:02 PM

Athlon 2.0Ghz, 1gb ram, Radeon 9000 Pro 64MB

Before i installed those ATi doom3 drivers i could barely run it at 640x480 on low, with all the advanced options off.

After i downloaded them im running it at 1024x768 at Medium settings with a little lag here and there but its not too noticable

XP 1.4ghz 512mb 2100 ddr gf fx 5600 256mb and i run at 800X600 on low quality with no probs. my comp isn't any better than yours and it runs it fine. you should be able to as well.

Sergeant_Scrotum 08-16-2004 07:19 PM

I unchecked all the advanced options and it helped alot. I should update the drivers too.

AMD 1800(OCed @ 1.67Ghz)+, 512 MB PC 133 + GeForce 3 Ti200 64mb(OCed @ 230/550) + Windows 2000Pro

= Medium Settings All advanced options enabled, 2xaa Medium Settings running at 15 fps to 64. A Truetestament of a game to run so well on such a system as mine.

Da_Bian 08-16-2004 07:33 PM

AMD XP2000 (1.67ghz), GF4 MX440 (64mb ddr), 512mb DDR RAM. WinXP.

I get around 10 to 20 fps. Average of 15. Runs ok, but I'd hate to play it when I have to deal with a boss.

I did some of those tweaks Gerv linked. Before that, I was getting around 5 to 10 fps. oOo:
I'm not going to play Doom3 again until I upgrade something. It's just not enjoyable.

Get a can of lighter fluid, some matches, and a ball peen hammer. Splash the contents of the can of lighter fluid over that sorry ass computer of yours, strike a match and set it ablaze, then bash the shit outta it with the hammer while it's still hot. That should put it out of it's misery.

Ok, all kidding aside, you should be running the latest version of [DirectX 9.0c] Get the latest drivers for your card and reset everything on low. That should at least get you going. You should try to OC your card a bit to squeeze a lil' more out of it. Just run [timedemo demo1] before the changes, and after to see if you have any increases in fps.
