How do you make them?

Hold ctrl and click the layer you wish to select

what method do you use to cut / make selections, of private ryan thats on carentan background, or anything for that matter. lasso , magnetic lasso ? what?

eraser?

i usually use the polygon lasso to get rid of a lot of what i dont want. i then use the eraser to get rid of the rest

ive been doing that a lot lately too. i use to think it was a pain in the ass to do and would try to mag lasso it , but ive found that its really not that hard at all to erase and draw back ...

I use the pen tool and then hit ctrl+enter.It comes out alot cleaner then the lasso or whatever dance:

eraser with soft edge.
