Problems with Fog/Sky

I wouldn't consider this an important problem, but it bothers me alot. I had recently bought and installed Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, and it worked fine. On multiplayer, the levels had skies and virtually no fog.
I bought Breakthrough a week later, and it wouldn't install on my computer. Registry Key Invalid, or Product Key. Something. I tried to install MOHAA and Breakthrough on someone elses computer, same CD Keys, and it worked perfectly.
So, I burned my friends MOHAA directory onto a CD and extracted it into my MOHAA directory. I had Breakthrough "installed," pretty much with only a few out-of-game problems. This wasn't in my title of my problem, but it's something that happened.
Anyways, I noticed that in Breakthrough, I have no sky in my game, and the fog is thick on every level, including the original MOHAA multiplayer levels that never had fog, EVER. Black fog will give me a black sky, even when the sun is out and blinding me when I look up. Is there a setting that will give me a sky, or lessen/remove fog?

Do a complete reinstall, from the CDs, with the key codes.

Reinstalling Medal of Honor Allied Assault won't help. I've done that before. As I said, Breakthrough won't install from the CD. I don't use fake CD keys or anything.

Go back and get a new BT.

I should be more specific, so I will indeed be!
Okay, after realizing Breakthrough didn't work, I got yet another one. Same problem as the last copy, so I realized it was my computer. I've already fixed the installation problem (not really well,) by doing that Copy Directory thing.
AND NOW... An update!
I went to study which maps didn't have skies, and which settings would show them. I went to test maps, alone, without other players, and none of the maps I had problems with were skyless. I went online, figuring, "Oh, I guess I DO have skies." With other players, I had experienced the same no-sky problem as always. "What the crap? I had skies when I was alone."
And that is the update. Thank you, guys, for giving some good suggestions.

Do you think servers have something to do with it? What if I join a Spearhead server? Maybe it's not me, but the servers that make my skies invisible. Maybe I'm in denial. Either/or!

From personal experience - a mod did this to me - move all mods out of your main/maint folders and retry. soz but i cant remember which mod it was that caused it.

THE SOLUTION
At last! The simplest alteration fixed the whole game! (Not installing, but I have sky, and no fog!) When I set Texture Detail in Video to Low, I get alot of fog and no sky. When I set it to medium or high, I get a sky, virtually no fog, and I can finally see in those BIG levels! Thanks for the help, guys!
