I need mplayer, but all I have is 56k!!!!!!!!!
 

What are some good multiplayer games for a poor chap like me who just has a 56k connection? What will not lag like crazy when I log on to kick booty?

Well I used to play Team Fortress Classic all the time and I was on a 56k, its a free mod for half life and its a load of fun.

Just make sure you get the 'All Seeing Eye' online gamebrowser (also free) and choose a location nearest to you and it should be ok to play......surely you should save up for a 100-256k if possible, they're not great but anything is better than 56k.

As for new games, you're not going to find any in my opinion, older games should be easier on dial-up I guess..

I just can't get much more right now, nothing else really offerd. Wirless is to expensive, and I really don't want satillite, which is also to much money. Maybe some of you guys could come overe and we could play football catch.

Why would you need to get wireless? Get hard-wired cable throughout the house. A phone line+AOL or w/e you use is just about as expensive as branching your cable to a modem for $30 a month.

Halflife and its mods were actually very playable over 56k, used to play dod on american servers on a 56k before it came the bloated pos it is now.
