-that just flat out sucks.... annoy: cry: LATVIAN and NHL hockey star Sergei Zholtok died during a Belarus championship game yesterday between Dynamo Minsk and Latvia's Riga 2000. The 31-year-old collapsed with five minutes remaining of play and was pronounced dead in an ambulance on his way to hospital. Reports said Zholtok died of a heart attack. Zholtok appeared in 588 NHL games from 1992-2004 with Boston, Ottawa, Montreal, Edmonton, Minnesota and Nashville. He joined the Nashville Predators in March in a trade from Minnesota. Zholtok played 11 games for Nashville last season but was appearing in the Belarus championship because of the NHL lockout. |
I heard this on the radio as soon as I woke up this morning. Not exactly a great wake up call.

RIP...is there any notion to what the cause was?

Some sort of cardiac episode. I'm guessing it was undiagnosed.

Thats sad.
I think the problem with Athletes such as himself are the ones with low HDL Cholesterol levels (Low HDL cholesterol levels [less than 40 mg/dL] increase the risk for heart disease.) Thats my problem, i have low HDL that hovers in the lower 30's. People who are in shape and have low HDL are susceptible to dropping dead while exerting themselves. |
Similar to that soccer player dropping dead i suppose. annoy:

I read this yesterday on TSN.
http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story.asp?ID ... ubName=nhl I was kind of glancing by and had to look again. Zholtok is a name you hear quite a bit in the NHL so when someone like that dies it comes as a bit of a suprise. RIP |
So young, and so sad..
