It will likly be just as bad as it was in the movie. The only differance will be the time frame. As was stated by many people when the movie first came out.

I just didnt know it was possible, i thought it was just some clever far fetched theory made up for the movie. Im definetly moving away from New York, to somwhere south... But their southern drawl would drive me crazy.

There was a big article in popular Science magazine when the movie first came out about if it were possible.

and the northern accent is pleasant to listen too ? southern drawl owns. especially on a girl .
