RAM question

To start off, yes I do have an older model computer. it's a p3 1 gig. I was looking into buying new ram for it, preferabbly 256 sticks and noticed on a few sites they said something about 'Registered/Unbuffered'....what's the diffrence.

It depends on your motherboard. What motherboard have you got?

success I found the manual that came with my comp many-a-moon ago. Says it 'unbufferd single or double-sided dimms'

Yes I know my computer is god ass old. Thank you for the patience in my computer nubness.

No offense but, p3 mboards might not support any more ram than a gig...but if your just wanting to get new ram than there really isnt a point to unless the ram is caca....

he has the mobo manual.....it will tell him what he can do.

Airborne Butters 12-27-2004 04:00 PM

yea my mobo only holds 512mb of RAM and I had 2x256 chips in there but one of the 256 chips burned out and crucial won't accept the warranty....

so I just gotta get another 256 chip hopefully.

With some of the older style computers, Extra Cheese corn chips make a
delicious substitute for traditional RAM chips....or so I'm led to believe.

Why wont they accept the warranty? Crucial is supposed to have lifetime on their ram.
