Yeah, it's gotten boring...that's why I'm about to download DoD 2.0 in about 4 minutes!
I'll be gone for awhile.

ahh what is wrong with you fellas this game still rocks the cazbar! mp will never die, although i agree we could use a map editor to get some new levels and maybe even a sp expansion would be cool.

Boring?! The game is practically brand new. I think alot of people get bored of games fast because they spend every waking minute playing them. It just speeds up how quick you bore of it. I don't see this game getting boring for me for a LONG time.

This game was incredibly good for quite a while, but seems to be wearing off quickly. I think some of the reasons are:

1) need new maps, i.e. map editor

2) faster servers. the lag can be a killer. btw, I have a very good cable connection, often ping is in the 20's.

3) some way to implement team work? voice? roger wilco? maybe not. I can imagine how abused this would be. Still, there is not enough cooperation, teamwork, or even brain usage.

4) some sort of complaint blocker. I am getting so sick of people starting fights in game because they don't like snipers/rockets/shotguns or some other excuse for a basic lack of skill. maybe just a "maturity checker" would be the best solution.

5) version consistency or better server listings?

A) I join a server, it says 'old version', so I go back to in-game browser and wait for it to refresh 300 servers. why not list the version in the browser? (by the way, thanx 2015 for the in-game browser http://www.alliedassault.com/ubb/smile.gif

B) I join another with 11/12 players. 'server full.' why not let me wait for an opening? I think UT does this.

C) wait for list to refresh 300 servers again. why not make refreshing optional?

Sometimes this can go on for half an hour efore you get into a game. Then the game is often laggy.

D) Sometimes I even lose the server connection. This never happens to me in other games like Quake3, UT, or AvP.

I know the browser is new and could use other features like favorite servers, etc. like GameSpy or AllSeeingEye. Maybe in an update.

I still find the game itself exciting. It is just the problems with getting into a game, lag in a game, and MOST OF ALL jerks in a game that are the problems.

To me MP is boring just cause the nice maps are roonied. I love snipin gbut not on omaha. V2 is watsed cause rokcets from germans. Crossroads sucks. i played the hunt waaaaaaaayyyyyy to many times. Destroyed village is the only good map. But probs are laggers go there.

Could sure use more than 4 objective based maps in the rotation.

Oh come on. This is FPS game of the year, to me at least... The game right now is hugh, and with the map maker (SDK) comming very soon, the game is only gonna get bigger. Much bigger http://www.alliedassault.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Sniper 4 Life 02-06-2002 04:44 AM

man you play it every waking second of youre life probally thats why its boring to you

lysis 02-06-2002 04:47 AM

i haven't even finsished single player yet - but i'm playing on hardest difficulty setting - with no cheating (i don't understand how to even in 1.1) - and using quicksave very sparingly (first time i used it was on omaha).

For me single player was boring including omaha and all the levels before it, but now it is getting interesting!

And MP is still good - although I never thought there were nearly enough objective maps - these are the main maps i play and so there were only 3 more than the demo so I was screwed from the start. But MP still rocks althoug maybe RTCW has an edge because the teamplay is so good in that because of the 4 class system.

sgt.sayian 02-06-2002 04:55 AM

dude, Iv been playing this game since the multiplayer demo first came out! lol, and im not bored of it, maybe alittle of SP but never of MP, I love this game and It'll never get boring, maybe in like a year or so for me lol.

Ladmo 02-06-2002 05:19 AM

Have you tried playing the SP game again on Hard and with out any hud? I just started playing with no Hud and I think the game is a whole lot more challenging with no cross hair, no way to know how much health you have, not knowing where your objectives are and not knowing how many bullets are in your gun. I think it makes it more realistic and more fun.

[AoD]Jobi1 02-06-2002 05:22 AM

I could play nothing but Omaha for the next couple years and be happy. Ya some new maps would be cool, but I'm really drooling over all the mods that are going to be coming out. http://www.alliedassault.com/ubb/smile.gif

Not even close to boring yet. I'm on my second play through the single-player game and am enjoying it just as much as the first time. A third may not be out of the question.

As far as multi-player, it's still a good deal of fun. Not enough objective-based maps, sure, but the existing ones are cool and I mix it up with some occassional deathmatch.

Myself and some guys at the office are setting up a private server to play on (there are four of us with the game) so that should extend the fun.

I imagine by the time I am fully ready to move on, the first multi-player maps will be trickling out into the community. (You can start making your basic maps now with a QIII editor, or so I hear) And after that, the first expansion is on the way.

I really have not been this much into a game and this excited about a game's potential future since Half-Life ... and that game is still as strong as it was on Day One. stronger, really.
