i wonder how life on other planets would alter peoples perceptions...

harpua 02-16-2005 06:02 PM

there was a council of scientists who pondered terraforming the moon or mars. much to everyones suprize they decided not to. they wanted to preserve each planets' purity or something like that.

Only the christions would have their views destroyed.

I think it would change everything. People only think of themselves these days, thats why everyone is always offended. If there was life on other plannets, they would realize there is more out there than they think. It would also bring up questions of religion? If they were friendly, we could learn alot from them. I would think there was life at some point, not now. I think it would also make the world come together, and the future of war would be world vs. world, not country vs. country.

Only christians? What about the Johnny Jihads who beleive they are the chosen ones of the universe?

remember, life doesn't mean it has to be intelligent and drive space cars around while they chat about alien politics. A single cell is considered life. I doubt the discovery of a single-celled organism would hurt religions too much.

I dont care who it would change, because it wouldnt change me. Any one with half a brain, should know we are not alone in the universe.

Since Christian believe humans are the only thing that have an afterlife (no doggy heaven cry: ) i don't think this will affect there perceptions.

Anita_Man 02-16-2005 07:30 PM

they believe earth is the center of the universe too.
