When i try to play the game and enter basic training or the first mission all I do is spin in circles. I can jump and move but I am spinning around all the time. I've tried reinstalling the game and tried configuring different movement options - nothing works. Everything was working fine when I play other games (ie. RTCW) Anyone got any ideas? Thanks in advance for any help

Aphart, if you have a joystick try disconnecting it and see if that does it. Let me know...

Thanks for the help applebomb - not.

I use a joystick - always have. (I know I know a joystick) I move with it, aim and shoot with the mouse. It got me through the hardest of RTCW though.

Even if I try to use no joystick it still spins me around. I can still play rtcw o.k.
with it. I am to old to learn new ways to play.

Thanks for the help so far

No, I dont mean just not using the joystick in the game, I mean disconnecting it from the port THEN running the game. Did you try that?

I know, I'm sorry. Just trying to add a little levity to this dreay forum of complaints and in-fighting.

Favorite out of context quote off CNN.com today about an attack on a convoy in Afgahnistan:

"Several people are believed to have been killed in the Monday attack, but U.S. officials said they cannot confirm who they were."

aphart, Have you tried changing your default control buttons when you used no joystick?

If you have an optical mouse, try getting the newest drivers, and installing them. I have optical and had that problem before.

Im in agreement here, im almost definate this is your problem and it most likely has to do with how the throttle on your joystick is set. If you position it correctly you'll probably find that'll stop the spinning.

Thanks MUSTANG It was my throttle on my joystick. All the grief I went through for something relatively simple. I am enjoying the game finally. Thanks again.

P.S. EA tech support SUCKS!!!!!! big time

Thanks for all of the other ideas also.

Try something like this:

Put these in you cfg file:

seta cl_pitchspeed "0"
seta cl_yawspeed "0"

Stops the spinning joystick, I think.
