Build me a system.

Over the summer I plan on getting a job to pay for a new computer. My Gateway upstairs isnt cutting it anymore and I need something new. So to get some ideas I want you guys to build me a system. Just tell me what would be the best for the tasks at hand and i will put it toghether. I plan on doing mainly Gaming, Mapping, porn, and any other video effects. My budget is about 2000-4000 bucks. beer:
and thanks in advance.

get a 20gig ipod since you're a loyal Apple user. Do all of your solitaire gaming on it.

AMD64 CPU
Gigabit Motherboard
Antec PS + Case (Sonata)
High-end video card
SB Audigy2
1GB Corsair RAM (LL)
SATA drives
DL DVD -/+ R
Floppy (Good old tech tool)

If you get the best of everything in there, it can run ~1800$, MAX.
Anything more and you're getting the royal screw job...

MSI or ASUS mboard... with SLI compatable...
6800 ultra

I'll put one together for you after work. happy:

I'm pretty sure you will have to aquire a different Windows XP as the Gateway disk should only work to restore your Gateway.

SoLiDUS 04-04-2005 05:51 AM

If you actually registered your Windows XP (I assume) with the previous PC, you
need a new copy. Just do like 90% of PC users and download it. happy:

Mac mini, looks cute but you'd probably get more use out of a condom in a nunnery. eek:

ed: geez, in that case just go to newegg.com and find the most expensive stuff available, you'll still prolly fall under $4000.

True, I got one that could possibly be better than the top Alienware for about $4500-$6000 (Including big lcd monitor), so just downgrade a few things and it would good.

Just curious, but how many of you consider monitors an important part of buying a new computer? - Or do you just find a shitty one and it? oOo: eek:

geRV 04-04-2005 04:56 PM

Depends on the res you want, more expensive = higher res or lcd. Im using a 17" lcd and it does what i want of it, didn't cost a bomb either.
