[quote:ba28e]The operation captured 10,340 people, of whom 162 were wanted for murder, 638 had outstanding arrest warrants for armed robbery and 553 were wanted for rape or sexual assault.
Also captured were 106 unregistered sex offenders and 154 gang members.[/quote:ba28e] 162 + 638 + 553 + 106 + 154 = 1,613 What happened to the other 8,727? [quote:ba28e]The number is about 10 times as many fugitives as were arrested in the same period last year. [/quote:ba28e] Why clog up the courts with faulty cases, and how many of these arrests are for mickey mouse offences? [quote:ba28e] Taylor said there have been nationwide fugitive roundups before, "but this just turned out to the largest and most significant in terms of numbers." He said Congress in 2002 mandated that the Marshal Service be involved in fugitive hunts and investigations. "This gave us an opportunity to sort of prove ourselves," he said. He said marshals worked "long, hard hours" on the intense roundup, and he was surprised at the number of arrests.[/quote:ba28e] http://www.tuscaloosanews.com/apps/pbcs ... /504141111 I seriously wouldn't doubt that these arrests were a ploy for whatever political reason. Sounds good on the surface, but we don't see what goes on behind the scenes. |
To bad it only happens once every 20840284093759375398 years.

While the arrest campaign obviously is politically driven, that doesn't mean a bunch of U.S. cops have become the KGB and are arresting innocent people. nag: |
I acknowledge that I have nothing to back up the claim, and thats all it is. When I read that over 10,000 people arrested in 6 days, that just didn't jive with me.
If the idea that a mass arrest took place, I wouldn't think the cops doing the arresting themselves would be involved criminally, rather higer ups in some form. |
hmm, the forum just got smaller//....

You have a good point. Why clog up the courts when many of them can be executed on the spot?
