I seriously wouldn't doubt that these arrests were a ploy for whatever political reason. Sounds good on the surface, but we don't see what goes on behind the scenes.

You're usually pretty fair and balanced 90, but in this case your opinion is extremely unsubstantiated. While the arrest campaign obviously is politically driven, that doesn't mean a bunch of U.S. cops have become the KGB and are arresting innocent people.

I acknowledge that I have nothing to back up the claim, and thats all it is. When I read that over 10,000 people arrested in 6 days, that just didn't jive with me.

If the idea that a mass arrest took place, I wouldn't think the cops doing the arresting themselves would be involved criminally, rather higer ups in some form.
