This just popped up while I was surfing.

looks like a pop up add. Its a IE window, if you have active virus scanning i would expect a Norton or PCC window. Do some research into the virus without clicking ok, run a virus scan if your really worried. I wouldnt click anything on that window though.

also notice the spelling mistake where they put throw instead of through
also the port is 443 which is used for ssl connections to https sites
so basicly yeah it is a hoax

The wording alone is suspect.

"Your privacy and security are in danger"

Windows would never say something like that.

Looks to me like the Nigerians have found a new scam.

Paying them to help bring a bunch of money into the country that they'll share with you isn't cutting it anymore, huh?

If you really want to know, change your theme from the blue and orange theme to anything else. Then, if a blue and orange pop-up appears, and you've got, say.. silver and red, or blue and grey, then you dont need to worry about it.

First time I saw it I had to stop and read it, because just like you I thought it was serious.

Then I came back to my sense and realized it was in a Browser Window.
