lysis 02-09-2002 01:49 AM

gun with laser for MOH on fileplanet?

does not sound likely to me

parchy 02-09-2002 02:09 AM

Uhhhh.... No.

Unless you provide me with a link or at least a source, you are flat out lying.

Plus, I highly doubt there were even lasers in the 40's, let alone a laser mounted on a pistol. Nice try though.

What bearing does the existance or nonexistance of laser sights in the 1940s have to do with an alleged add-on for a video game in the year 2002?

You know, just curious.

Flammenwerfer 02-09-2002 02:48 AM

EASY: the setting of THIS particular video game takes place in the 40's and since any weapon that's included is an original weapon from this age i don't think there will ever be weapons with laserpointers.which leads me to another question: is this "new weapon" an official one or is it just a custom model?

Shoegaze99 02-09-2002 02:54 AM

Sorry, Flammenwerfer, that answer fails to pass the test. There is, after all, a skin of the *Predator* for goodness sake ... and I'm pretty sure there were no intergalactic alien hunters taking part in World War II.

So, again, what does the fact that the game is set in the 1940s have to do with the idea that a user may be creating a laser-sighted gun mod?

Unless we live in some reality I am not aware of, I don't think there is anything preventing the aforementioned gun from being created.

parchy 02-09-2002 03:06 AM

It CAN be created, but it won't be. The entie point of MOHAA is realistic WWII gameplay. This is not Duke Nukem, and its not Wolfenstein. Its a "simulation." The fact that a skin came out doesn't make it a full gun. It's not like it blasts plasma or anything. So, in keeping with the realism with this game, laser sites will not be permitted, based on the fact that they weren't around at the time. Would you have a bazooka in a Civil War video game? No, because it ruins the atmosphere that the game is trying to create. Why would they call it a WWII game if non-WWII era weapons would be allowed in the game? Did they include laser sites on any of the existing guns? No. And that's because the point of this game is REALISM. I'm sorry if you don't understand that, but that's the truth.

Oh get real. This game is not realistic. It never was realistic. Once they implement blood, wind, gravity affecting bullets, iron sights, and realistic damage to humans and vehicles, the game will be "realistic".

Shoegaze99 02-09-2002 03:33 AM

Sorry, parchy, the game is not a simulation and the game is not rooted in realism; it's an action shooter with great atmosphere, little more.

Dead soldiers do not drop magic health packs, allied soliders cannot take round after round from Nazi opponents and keep fighting, tiger tanks do not single-handedly destroy multiple villages and dozens of other tanks, and so on.

Hell, parchy, if the game was a "simulation," there wouldn't be any need for realism mods, would there?

And yet were that not enough, you say a laser-sighted gun modification would not be "permitted." Permitted by whom? The nameless, faceless entity that dictates what mods are created and what mods are not? Hate to tell you, but people will make any mods they want, without the scope of their abilities. There is no such thing as the mod not being "permitted," save regarding copyright issues. If somebody wanted to put aliens and plasma guns in the game, they could.

So you say nobody will create such a gun. Maybe they will, maybe they won't. Only time will tell. But you're reasoning here is laughable at best.

First Man Down v2.0 02-09-2002 03:53 AM

There's already a mod that provides a laser dot, and it's right under your noses:

Wow, that sounds great. But if its true where can i find it. Will it work in a regular game or would it have to be in a mod?

02-09-2002 08:19 AM

A laser-sighted gun will turn this game into another idiotic "monsters and mutants" shooter like doom.
NO DAMN LASERS!
