That has already been approved. And there is defineitely not more oil in Alaska than in the Mid East.

And if you don't think the US is starving for oil, your sadly mistaken.

China and India have put a strain on the amount of oil needed in the world. Their economies keep expanding. They want more oil. Pretty simple.

If peak oil hasn't come and gone already, it definitely will within the next 10 years. That means both the US and China will be looking for oil in other places. Ex: Iraq, Afghanistan (pipeline), Iran and the Caspian sea.
