Why the 2nd CD? is it just there for installation purposes? I tried, and it was able to run MOHAA (albeit crashing somewhat regularly :P), but other than installation, i can't see any other reason for it's existance. Any ideas?

The installation does not fit on one disc. You however can use one disc for the game and the other for a decicated server. Both discs will let you play the game.
