help.....

k i just installed some ram on my computer and when i tried to turn it on it wouldn't do anything, so i took the ram out and it still wouldn't turn on! help please, the only thing i can think of is that the motherboard is fried or something

edit:nvm i got it to work, but without the ram,i'll have to try it with the ram again

edit2: i put the ram in and it start up but doesn't reconise the ram

Remove the ram, put the old ram in, start it up and see if it recognizes that, if it does. shut down and re install the new ram. if that doesnt work, go into the bios and try inputting it manually.

Try swapping them around, when i bought my new stick of ram my pc kept beeping so i swapped them into different slots and it worked oOo:

Crazy Canadian 07-28-2005 04:50 PM

my computer only has 1 slot on the mobo and i can't see any other full ones where the ram the computer currently has is located

edit: i know this is stupid but when i put ram in do i just put it the slot start up the computer and the computer reconize it by itself or do i have do something else¿

i got a answer from somebody that is probaly a right answer

"How old is the computer you're putting it into? In all probability, the ram is probably sd ram which most modern mobos won't support."

Sniper101 07-28-2005 10:26 PM

in most cases thats correct, since ddr has become cheaper and is faster, sd is going out of "style" as it were
