I hope this doesnt include any configuration of my hardware, like unscrewing shit and rewiring shit.

Its all bios, raising the fsb speed and cpu core voltage if necessary.

are you running an AMD processor? If so then those processors are notorious for running super hot, be sure to download software like SysMetrix to monitor its temps.

make sure you bought the CPU yourself, most computer companies like dell, hp, compaq, and sony will lock out the overclock feature in the BIOS.

anyways, go into your BIOS setup (i think F2 at startup) and tell me every directory and subdirectory you see. I can walk you though this step by step on MSN or AIM.

oOo:

Wtf drug are you smoking or what year are you living in? Amd's run a shitload cooler than pentium 4's. Last hot amd cpu's were the old thunderbird core athlons if i remember rightly and that was a few years ago.

Simo Häyhä 08-09-2005 10:23 PM

i think buckeh is a Dell boi

Bucknub 08-09-2005 10:24 PM

ok, well I got this PC custom made, and have and intel p4

and I know for a fact that I didnt see any overclocking features in the BIOS

pm me your msn or aim, i can help you though this

also, google for something called CPU-Z, it will give your current voltage and shit for your CPU.

63C is normal for AMDs. Go to their website and they will tell you what the tolerances are.

Or get a better CPU fan. As long as you're not overclocking, you have nothing to worry about.

AMDs run hot. I have a 2500+ XP non-overclocked that runs around 44C under normal loads.

I had a 3200+ XP that I overclocked (until I pushed it too far.) But it typically ran around 65C

just from my experiences. calmdown:

eek:

Try an amd 64, they have that cool and quiet tech that makes the cpu clock down when running in 2d mode. Bumps back up to full pelt when the cpu is being loaded and is still a lot cooler than a regular p4.
