VCDs
OK, so I'm a total nub when it comes to media stuff on the PC. A friend here at work brought in a couple baked VCDs. I'm copying the files on the cds to a directory on my laptop, but once I've got them, is my only recourse to burn my own vcd using those files/folders?
If not, can I convert the VCD files/folders to a single file like a wmv or mpg or something? I think I'd prefer that. Your help is duly appreciated, and you will be compensated via +1s and e-handjobs. |
From what I understand, all VCD's are, are the original video format converted by a burning program. How to bring it onto your PC from the VCD format is unknown by me.

There should be a regular movie file on the CD, the rest are just data files for your dvd player to tell where that file is.

I googled "vcd to mpeg" and found a couple of programs you could "buy".

You should be able to mount the image using Daemon tools or alcohol 1**. Then WMP should play it.

I think DVD Santa or whatever can help you.

Open the large .dat file in WMP.
