build one at hp's website. my brother built himself one from the site, it was cheap and still has alot of power. plus hp laptops are pretty damn good in terms of reliability and just about everythign else you look for in a laptop

IBM thinkpad's consistently get good ratings.

dont buy toshiba. i bought mine a few weeks ago and have problems nonstop. cd rom kept disconnecting itself for no reason, only to reappear a couple days later, and now the whole thing just died without reason and wont start up. GOOD JOB TOSHIBA!

1 faulty laptop hardly means the entire line of their products are like that. annoy:

ive heard of others having problems with their toshibas also. plus the 23423423 amount of extra software that comes pre-installed is a real pain in the ass to get rid off. lack of a bios blows too. its not 1 faulty laptop, its the whole package.

Dell has the best value notebooks around.

Definitely swing by there.

I've got an Inspiron 700m... its a great little notebook for mobility and traveling. Also, if you want tough/reliable and don't mind paying for it, Thinkpads from IBM have consistently been the best in the market for a while now.

What would be the better solution ? Centrino or Athlon MObile etc...

Akuma 08-15-2005 05:23 PM

Centrino is just Intel's wireless technology.

But the Pentium M kicks the absolute shit out of the competition.

I also have the Inspiron 700M and it's a great notebook.
