- Is your TV on?

- Cables firmly plugged in?

- House free of insurgents?

does the green light show up? if it does and it is still a black screen, check if the disc is turning. If the disk is turning, try fixing up the wires or something (pluging them in tightly, that is what usualy is the problem with mine). If that still doesn't work, try google or sell it back. I'm on my 5th PS2 after 5 years (each PS2 I've had has had a disc read error, and i refuse to fix it when i could use the warranty to get a new one).

might be the cables. my ps2's cables are sloppy and if i didn't know anything about wires and connections, i would have just guessed something was wrong with my ps2. just reposition/move around the wires. you turn on the ps2 but u don't see anything, but is there audio? if so, then its the wiring.
