X800, 2.6Ghz, 512 (400fsb) ram, WTF is BF2 SLOW?

Hey guys!

I'm trying to get BF2 working on my machine but I can't play it without it stalling and choaking on itself like a granny driving a ford model T. W.T.F.

I ordered 512 more ram a few days ago, but might it be anything else?

since when was 512 too small???

My main guess is you only having 512mb of memory.

1GB has pretty much become the standard now and I think Akuma said that to run the High for the texture setting you need 1.5GB of memory.

Yup, PC3200 is rather nice. Make sure your mobo supports it though.

1 gig is now the gaming standard. With 2 gig being the optimal.

Im guessing he meant DDR400 in his subject in which case that is PC3200.

Correct

PS: Check out http://www.newegg.com for DDR400(PC3200) ram, you can some really good deals from that site.

I have 512mb ram and it runs fine besides when I spawn the first time on medium settings

Get 2GB, it's amazing. 64 person games load in under 20 seconds and there is no stuttering whatsoever with maxed settings.

With 1gb you can't use high textures at a high resolution or else you'll get horrible stuttering.

Also 2.6ghz (I'm assuming a P4) is pretty weak and might be bottlenecking your X800.
