There is nothing more irritating to me than to go and buy that new FPS Shooter, bring it home, install it only to find that there is no joystick support in the game. Eck !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why you ask??? Get real !!! Play a first person shooter with a joystick ????? The keyboard is much better !!! Never heard of such a thing ... What a moron,,, you say .... well.... I hate using the keyboard! My fingers do not flutter about the keyboard with the greatest of ease and I often find my fingers on the wrong key during a heated battle! I hate it! Now,, let me dispel a misconception,, there may be those who do use a joystick to play FPS,, but as for myself and most of my buddies,, we like using a gamepad/mouse combo... Use the gamepad and available buttons for movement, such as forward, back, strafing, jumping and crouching and the mouse for freelook and weapon related commands such as firing, weapon change and such. It works great for me! Now ... Metal of Honor Allied Assault.. It is a excellent game,,, I love it!! But ..... No joystick/gamepad support.?.. and even the Offical FAQ stated that joystick support was not available in the game..?. But ... hmmmm.. it uses the Quake 3 engine,, it has joystick support and after doing some research on console commands at various sites I hit upon the right commands to get my gamepad to work with MOHAA ... I thought that was pretty sad,,, the joystick support was in the game engine but the developers left the people who purchased MOHAA to bump around in the dark to find it.. Why ? I do not have a clue. Obviously there in a misconception on how people use game/joysticks to play FPS and not get "owned" as stated in another post and sadly, game developers have lost their connection with at least part of the gaming community. Best Regards,, MajorFrag Oh... I have started a forum for us FPS Joystick/gamepad users at http://www.majorfrag.com/discus/index.html come give me a yell and share some of your joystick/gamepad configs with other games. |
