improve performance? that depends soely on your video card.

for nvidia go to google.com and search for nvmax.

or go to guru3d.com and dl geforce tweaker.

i dont know about ati. im sure there are equivelent proggies out for that.

you dont dl openGL. Your vid card has whats called an ICD (installable client driver). which more less translates the openGL code into something the hardware on the card can understand.

I have an ELSA GLADIAC 511 64MB GEFORCE 2 MX 400 and I'm running the latest drivers from ELSA that were made for this card. Perhaps Nvidia drivers do a better job of this? Then again the drivers may be the same just with the ELSA logo instead.

I'll wait for the full game tomorrow http://www.alliedassault.com/ubb/smile.gif and then if I have problems I'll try some of the programs you guys have kindly listed, thx.

I am rather confused about MOHAA's rendering mode. I read posts about people downloading OpenGL tweeking tools but I thought MOHAA was Direct 3D? I only have the demo as of now and I certiantly dont get any choice about the rendering mode I use.

I tried searching and got mixed results.
So, once and for all is MOHAA Open GL or Direct 3D.

KillU2 02-14-2002 07:00 AM

MOH:AA uses OpenGL.

Yeah thats true when I got the demo and started playing everything was white when u started playing although you could hear the sound perfectly and you could see the sound. I tried messing with the controls and video but it didnt work even though my video card was supported. So I downloaded the lates OpenGl and the game looks perfectly now.

As of Direct X 8.0, Direct X now contains the entire Open GL API. It was a joint effort between Microsoft and NVidia, and is the only major difference between Direct X 7 and Direct X 8.

lol nvidia doesnt own openGL.

haha microsoft incorporating openGL into directX thats a laugh.

only major difference hahaha how about programable pixel shaders? better texture compression.

ahhh thanks for the early morning laugh that was funny.

3Dfx does, and NVidia bought them out just recently, so actually yes they do, as much as any company can own an open standard. They do own the liscensing rights, and the rights to incorporate changes into it. The API itself, like most, is open to whoever wants to use it without cost.

lol wrong again. 3dfx used glide....their openGL drivers were horrible.

keep the laughs coming

I stand corrected, I misread an earlier article, upon rereading, I see that I was wrong, but lol Madrebel do you have to such an asshole about it, or is this just natural for you!

not with stuff like that.

i mean there are a million articles out there about openGL and DirectX. How you could confuse the 2 is beyond me.

Mosquito 02-14-2002 10:03 AM

Again, it was a simple mistake, as stated earlier, I misread an article earlier. Somehow I don't think I'm the only one who's messed up something, at least I've got the balls to admit when I'm wrong.
you say,

not with stuff like that.
Well I've been in the computer business for many years now, and have worked with some absolutely brilliant programmers, and hardware engineers, and guess what, they didn't know it all, but you do. Yah OK Bud...
