Yes. Sony stated that you will be able to play PS1, PS2 and of course PS3 games along with blu-ray discs. Those disks can hold HD programming. They stated a blu-ray disc, double layered, will be able to hold 50gigs.

SONY doesnt like to say "fuck you" to its client base (too much - ahem no HD in Slim PS2). . .

Of course the PS3 will be back-wards compat -

As for this XBOX more powerful. . .the great thing about the next-gen drops this time around, is that both machines were being made at about the same time so XBOX doesnt have the ability to Super-Trump the then old PS2.

But the difference in the graphics processors in them is just immense.
Xenos to RSX is like a X1800XT to a FX5200.
