I'm gonna assume that this guy was trying to push an agenda in the classroom and that is probably why the principal started cracking down on him ... but if she was denying these documents solely because they referred to God etc. then the People's Republic of California is further gone than I thought.

And like I said, these are the kind of stories that make religious people think that the pendulem has swung too far and it's time to make a stand. IMHO that's why you see the big backlash.

It's a history book, of course God is going to be mentioned. Now maybe if it was a science book or a math book and it was saying god invented numbers then fine, but banning the use of the declaration of independence because it references god is asinine and ignorant.

1) History is the study of factual events. God/religion should be allowed to be mentioned, for example, as a leading cause for the crusades, but i see no reason to take it further than that.
