Im stunned. Really I am. One would have thought that the "Eden" for American Liberals would be scandal-makers free. . .is there no hope left in this world for the good guys! |
Just to clarify, the "Liberals" are a political party, and they probably lean a bit to the right side of the spectrum much like the Democrats do in the US. The article says centre-left, but I would disagree with that characterization.
This won't change anything. People aren't willing to put the Conservatives (again a political party) in power, and the liberals are waist deep in corruption and scandals. The NDP, which are the most left wing of the three main parties will only gat 15-20% of the vote. Liberals will get somewhere around 35% or so and the Conservatives will get 30%. There will be another Liberal minority government in Canada. All the political parties are corrupt. The conservatives would mess things up just as much as the liberals. The reason their not in power is because nobody trusts Harper. The conservatives have had so many chances to capitalize on the liberals mistakes, but they can't pull it off because their too inept. I'm sure it would be the same story with the NDP or Bloc if it were at all possible for the Bloc to get into power, but right now it's not. |
whats going on?

I will vote for the Liberals again |
They keep getting reelected because there's no one else. The NDP are seen as too far left, and the Conservatives are too far right.
And here's a representation of the political parties in Canada: The Canadian Party Political Compass™ In response to many requests from Canadian visitors, we're pleased to produce this chart. Yes, we know that there are smaller parties that some of you would have liked us to include, and individual politicians whose positions would be nice to have up there as well. There may be other additions in due course. We do what we can with our advertising-free and free-to access site. Should we secure a Canadian sponsor, we can, of course, produce further interesting charts. We'd like to thank those Canadians who generously gave their time to assist our research. Bloc Québécois presented us with a real challenge, since it is primarily a single-goal party promoting Québec independence. As such, it attracts members from all quadrants of The Political Compass who often have little else in common. http://www.politicalcompass.org/ |
Yay! Winter Election!! Christmas campaigning!
Fuck sakes.... You remember what happened the LAST time there was a vote of non-confidence... annoy: |

IMHO, this defection and others like it in the Republican party is the root of the recent problems in Congress. In the old days each party had a right wing, a left wing, and a center. They would work out an issue and come to a compromise and then present their case to the other party (who had also debated and compromised within the party). Today, if you lean left in a right leaning party you get pushed aside (i.e Alan Simpson of Wyoming), same goes for a right leaner in the left party (ie. Sam Nunn of Georgia). Each party is too polarized for my taste. I still call myself a Democrat (mainly because Abe Lincoln was a lying SOB and I refuse to officially associate with his party ;) ) but I haven't voted Democratic in a pretty long time, at least on the national level. |
Voting for NDP without a doubt. Everything I've read so far and looking at how much the conservatives fucked up in the 80's, their will be another liberal minority government which isnt good news.

Liberals will win again...though they don't deserve it...but still...I don't want Harper in office.

I live in a conservative Alliance stronghold.. So my only chance for voting goes to the liberals. Ernie Eve's = used to lead our riding/ same for Mike The Knife Harris.... I beleive Brain Mulroney was also our representative @ one time... SAD days. Some of the worst to ever come out as well..
