Cumhuriyet - During his recent visit to Ankara, CIA Director Porter Goss reportedly brought three dossiers on Iran to Ankara.

Goss is said to have asked for Turkey’s support for Washington’s policy against Iran’s nuclear activities, charging that Tehran had supported terrorism and taken part in activities against Turkey.

Goss also asked Ankara to be ready for a possible US air operation against Iran and Syria.

Goss, who came to Ankara just after FBI Director Robert Mueller’s visit, brought up Iran’s alleged attempts to develop nuclear weapons. It was said that Goss first told Ankara that Iran has nuclear weapons and this situation was creating a huge threat for both Turkey and other states in the region. Diplomatic sources say that Washington wants Turkey to coordinate with its Iran policies. The second dossier is about Iran’s stance on terrorism. The CIA argued that Iran was supporting terrorism, the PKK and al-Qaeda. The third had to do with Iran’s alleged stance against Ankara. Goss said that Tehran sees Turkey as an enemy and would try to “export its regime.”[/quote:b792d]

Obviously it's hard to veryify if a story like this is accurate, however is it just a smart decision to prepare for action against Iran/Syria in case it's needed?

2. More likely to use them, sorry what was that? Only Israels allie, USA has used a Nuke, and if Israel can arm themselves up with all of these then all these nations around them should be able to aswell. Ok, i see i was wrong about Israel, my bad. Dont get me wrong, I see your point. the whole equality thing, if USA can have WMD, then any country should be able to possess them, and I AGREE with you to a certain extent.

However, arming yourself with a nuke is not the solution to irans "problems" with US of A, Israel, etc. That attitude is why kids bring guns, and knives to school. They think having a weapon will protect them, but in reality, once you have a weapon you have a chance to that you will use it. And in this analogy, Iran isnt your average kid who feels threatened. Its a racist, nationalistic kid who believes all jews should die.

Once again, I am not saying it is RIGHT for America to have WMD and Iran not to. However, lets forget hiroshima and nagasaki for a moment. The chances of America using nuclear weapons, in the near future, is relatively slim. I guarantee you the chances of Iran using them are substantially higher. This can easily seen, by Irans attitude. The attitude of its administration, and the attitude of its people. America is by NO MEANS even relatively close to being ideal. But iran makes USA look like a utopia.

We can only hope that people will learn...But hope doesn't do us much good, if we are hoping for something that will never happen. Humans are not a peaceful society.
Nukes have been used only twice, hiroshima and nagasaki. That was when the US was the only country to possess them. Now, over half a dozen countries possess nucear arms. Using them to now would mean nuclear war, followed by WWIII.
