Question for Milla (56k warning)
just saw this on the History Channel, think it was "Modern Marvels" but it talked about the "land warrior system"
have you trained at all with any of this kind of stuff with the Marines? seemed really interesting and at the end of the piece, the show said that they wanted parts of this system to be ready in two years, just wondering if they snuck any of that stuff in on you guys? Land warrior system sucked major dick, thats all you need to know. the OICW is a heavy piece of shit
|
OICW is dead. Land warrior is years off as they try to miniturize everything enough to not be 100% of what a soldier is carrying. Its only in testing with the 1 unit in the army that does testing of new experimental equipment, as of my last hearing.
Also the only good thing about the OICW was that the nade launcher was programable. But that was also a bad thing, since speed is life and programing a round took time. That and it fired from an open bolt. The ejection port was on the right side, and in IMT training your trained to use the buttstock of your rifle to break your fall. Thats the ejection port on the OICW and if you've fired a round and not closed the cover and IMT to the next position, dirt all up in that shit. |
Yeha the Land WArrior System is shite.
Now its dubbed the Future Warrior system i believe. If they army went to Multicam rather than ACU it would of been so much better off i think. Here is some airsoft ppl using multicam The pants are so bad ass, they knee pads are actually a part of the pants. Awesome idea. If you notice the new Ghost Recon game coming out, the soldiers in that game are wearing this pattern. [/img] |

[quote:7b74e]U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Raoul Lopez (left) poses in the new 2020 Future Warrior uniform system, while Army Sgt. Dan Harshman dons the 2010 Future Force Warrior uniform system.[/quote:7b74e] The 2020 version looks like some fucking Equlibrium shit, looks awesome if it would stay like that. [quote:7b74e]This is a snapshot view of a computer screen future soldiers will see in a dropdown eyewear device attached to their helmets. [/quote:7b74e] [quote:7b74e]Another potential development is inserting "nanomuscle fibers" that can actually simulate muscles, giving soldiers more strength. Fabric is impregnated with nanomachines that create the same weight, lift and feel as a muscle. "So I coat the outside of the armor with a nanomuscle fiber that gives me 25 to 35 percent better lifting capability," DeGay explained. The uniform from the waist down will have a robotic-powered system that is connected directly to the soldier. This system could use pistons to actually replicate the lower body, giving the soldier "upwards of about 300 percent greater lifting and load-carriage capability," DeGay said. "We are looking at potentially mounting a weapon directly to the uniform system and now the soldier becomes a walking gun platform." [/quote:7b74e] ed: ed: I mean if they follow through with this, this is like some Starship troopers (the book not the movie nitwits) shit. I mean its crazy if they could pull it off. |
2020 dude looks like those fags from halflife 2 LOL
|
2010 looks like htey could use it now. the 2020 guy looks a little less practicle atm. Ill bet its hard ot move in that current version. however if they get that thing battle ready it looks like itll kick some serious ass as long as the brain inside it doesnt get itself shot.

Well it looks less practical because it isnt all camoed up. But its a lot less bulky, no huge amounts of armor on you and shit. |

I have the boots the 2010 guy is wearing. They told us we weren't allowed to wear them in Afghanistan. Which is bullshit because those mother fuckers are comfortable as hell. |
