Uae pulls out of ports deal :)
http://www.comcast.net/news/index.jsp?c ... h=itn_bush
Bush knows for damn sure that he wouldn't have even thought about making this deal the day after 9/11 so why was he pushing so hard to get this thing passed 4 yrs later? annoy: |
Politics fourm.

nvm

I still don't see what the big deal is. The same company owns tons of ports in Europe and nothing has happened. Americans would be working at the ports, and the company would have an incentive to make sure the docks were safe after they were scrutinized for the deal.
|
its the UAE not Iran, or Iraq. Dubai one of the riches countries in the world and they got that way by doing good buisness. Plus its not exactly a terrorist country. I wouldnt really have minded to see it happen but at the same time I dont really care.
|
Personally think Americans should own american ports..but its obvious everyone was spooked that the company was in an arab country..and whats the deal with the 2 9/11 hijackers were from UAE..so what are you saying all UAE citizens are terrorists? oOo:
|
exactly. I just think a company of this size would know if anything happened that they would lose all their money and that would make them want to make sure everything was safe.
|
People should be more upset about the selling of their country to large multi national corporations than the fact the company is arab.

Well as soon as you can find a Mom and Pop outfit that can handle managing the number of ports the Dubai firm would have overseen - Im sure youll forward it to the US Gubment. Silly rhetoric really - a company that makes tons of money, and does it well should not be excluded from doing business with the US, or villified by the knee-jerk "money is evil" public. |
