I don't need no stinking service plan

Purchased a treadmill on 12/21/05 and began to have problems with it yesterday. Tossed it in the back of the truck and brought it back to Sports Authority. Turns out there's a 90 day return policy so i was in by 2 freakin' days!! Talk about shit luck. And to top it off, they gave me $40 because the fucker was on sale. I'll purchase the 3yr warrantee ($149.00) on June 18 if it doesn't break again by then.

I guess you couldn't ask for a better time for it to crap out on me.

I've been getting lucky lately with returns and service plans. Normally i never purchase a service plan, i just wing it but....when i bought my laptop, i opted for the plan after owning it for 2 weeks. Got my monies worth last week when i had to have a cracked hinge replaced at a cost of $540.00 after 2 years of ownership. Sometimes those service plans pay off.

Always buy the Product Protection Plans (PPP) at Sears on power tools. They cost 10% of the unit price, and cover it for 2 years of out right replacment for damn near any reason. Hell, even if it works fine after 1.99 years take it back and swap it for a new one. The workers dont give a shit why your bringing it back "yeah it just stopped working". They never carry the same model for that long, so you'll get swapped out with the newest compairable model. Pretty sweet if you buy say a $100 drill, pay $10 for the plan and get a free $100 drill two years later.

The Maintanence Agreements however ARE a fucking rip off.

I usually never buy warranties, but I did get one one my car when I bought it. About a year ago some electronic gizmo blew out on it and the cost was $1300 to repair it. I took it to the dealer where I bought the car at and told them that the car was under warranty and that I wanted to get it fixed. They did it, but only after I had to go back home to find the warranty paperwork. I thought I had lost it after 5 years and I expected them to have the white and yellow copies on hand. I was a little dissapointed and I thought it was a little underhanded of them to almost make me pay for parts that were under warranty. I found the papers, so it was covered.

Ive got them recently because I know stuff shits out.

I had one of our clients call me and say her printer shit the bed. I looked it up on HP and saw that it ran out THAT day the 15th.

I called and talked to Panji from India on tech support, after a 20 minute delay because it was the 16th over in India we got it replaced.

Ya I work at circuit city customer service, If you dont get the protection plans on any of the products you are fucked. You have to deal with the manufacturer on the products which is a bitch due to you actually having to pay to ship it to em and most likely your problem isnt gonna be covered under there 1 year warranty anyways.

Arkan's arms are so big that he pick the treadmill up with one arm while holding a sandwich in the other. Then he threw the treadmill out his garage like a frisbee and it landed in his truck.

My dad bought a laptop for two grand a couple of years ago.. yeah something wasn't working right (not really a big deal), so he took it back to Future Shop, and it took them two months to fix it so we got a free one (newer too).

The new one broke about a year later, my dad took it in to be fixed (under warrenty), it took them just under two months, but the damn thing wouldn't even start... So we returned it again, and it took them about another month to get it actually fixed, and they wouldn't even give us a free laptop loney: .

if the world were to arise to anarchy or the apocolypse, I'd live at Sports Authority. Think about it...they got clothing, food ( powerbars and that shit) and I'd have guns and ammo and transportation... Good store.

p.s. just jog around your block, you get same results as treadmill, minus the money.
