We all live on a blue submarine

New No longer black colouring! [quote:88247]Blue is the colour to keep subs hidden Submarines are being given a makeover by the Royal Navy and repainted blue. Navy bosses have decided to replace the traditional black to make the fleet harder to spot. The first submarine to get a facelift, HMS Torbay, has already been restyled in blue and the rest of the fleet should will soon follow. Terry Goodship, 71, of Gosport, chairman of the Submariners' International Association , said the move was unsurprising. He said: 'All submarines in the Med used to be blue. 'Blue is a good colour and is hard to spot. It is only in the very dark waters that we need to have the submarines painted black.' The end of the Cold War means British subs spend less time in the Atlantic. More time in the hotter areas of the world, such as the Middle East and Indian Ocean, means the fleet needs to adapt to brighter waters. 20 March 2006 [/quote:88247] http://www.thenews.co.uk/ViewArticle2.a ... ID=1391531 I wonder if the USN will change their boats as well? Looks like this isn't the first time subs have had different colouring though... Operation Petticoat:- [quote:88247]Historical basis Some of the plot points of the movie were based on real-life incidents. Most notable were scenes set at the opening of WWII, based on the actual sinking of the submarine USS Sealion (SS-195), sunk at the pier at Cavite Navy Yard, the Philippines; Commander Shermans letter to the supply department on the inexplicable lack of toilet paper, based on an actual letter to the supply department of Mare Island Shipyard by Lieutenant Commander James Wiggin Coe of the submarine Skipjack (SS-184); and the need to paint a submarine pink, due to the lack of enough red lead or white lead undercoat paint. Interesting that they'd need to change the colour of the boats to adapt to the warmer seas of the Med/Persian Gulf.
Makes sense. |
We are redesigning our to pink flesh color complete with veins. It only has one torpedo tube dead in the center of the front of the sub. It is capable of shooting 2,000 Torpedos(which are now painted white) at once over a 10,000 Nautical Mile range.
The 1st such ship the USS Peter North will be deployed in late october. |
Pete's Canadian. You'll have to name your huge cock-sub after someone else.
Might I suggest Buck Adams? |
