figured id drop by to say hey to you all and give an update

im in nanjing china for the month, learning (or trying to learn) mandarin and seeing the country, ill also be visiting xian, beijing and shanghai...

-traffic laws here are practically non-existant, crossing the street is a near death experience just about every time
-cities here make american cities look like villages, they are massive, with tons of gigantic apartment skyscrapers
-everything here is dirt cheap, i bought 16 dvs for the price of about one in the us, including silent hill, hostel, vendetta, etc
-people here love american culture
-chinese ppl SUCK at sports, there is a track with a soccer field and bball court, we watch them all the time, they cant make a goal or basket for SHIT hahaha
-the mentality here is very humble and modest, not like the "im better/richer than you" bullshit of the west, its very comfortable
-my group gets stares from everyone on the street
-there are more bicycles here than chinese people

umm, dont they have some kind of regional code or something that prohibits certain dvds from playing in certain players? Ask nyck, he knows all about it

they do but these are all bootleg anyway which means they are probably region free. thing is do they have chinese subtitles on the bottom ?

true, but I had a chinese guy come up to me at my job at circuit city wanting to put his portable dvd player into service b/c it wasnt playing his dvd's, well it turned out it was bootleg copies from china that werent playing and that there was nothing wrong with the dvd player. Lol infact the guy was saying the bootleg dvd's from china were superior technology to our dvd's. Well ya it ended up that they wouldnt wrk on his dvd player b/c of the regional code. end of story

Yeh, unless your dvd player is one the first generations or is just plain shit, you shouldn't have much trouble changing the region it plays...I do it all the time....
