Proteus 06-25-2006 01:26 PM

That looks like it took a while. Nice job.

c312 06-25-2006 02:39 PM

yeah, 10 hours, but I am getting paid for it.

well done.

: not trying to single out your work, but im getting pretty bored with seeing illustrator type drawings. they seem to be the "norm" now and are just about everywhere; imo they are too overdone. i look thru design journals and thats all i see. imo, those types of drawyings ( im not trying to single you out ) , are getting super stale and boring to look at. this also applies to those "collaged" type images that have "done in illustrator" written all over them.

i ripped this out of wired a while back and hung onto it because i liked the way guy had done his "ill drawing"

full sized :

not sure what it is about his that make me appreciate it a bit more than most ive seen ... it might be that theres a level of realism to it that you dont see in most. he also used "dashed" lines ( not sure if you can see them in the sized version ) to indicate changes in tone. i hung onto it cause i thought it might help me to find "new" ways to create ill drawings. you might also find some inspiration in it. plus, since cs2 its almost childs play to make a "vectored" drawing with the "autotrace" function. so, i my mind i think youre gonna have to really be able to make something super awesome to impress people with your "illustrator drawings".

... in no way am i trying to say theres anything wrong with your drawing. its really nice and im sure whoever youve done it for will like it very much. this has just been on my mind quite a bit lately.

awesome man, good job

I understand what you mean, judas. My deviantart mailbox has been full of deviations that people have released with tons of random, unskilled illustrator shapes coming out of photos and what not...it's way whored out now. I'm not sure about the autotrace feature in CS2, I only have CS. I think it's just a cool thing to be able to do, and it has really helped me with understanding how illustrator works and has made me a lot more comfortable with the program (I've found that illustrator is harder to get a grasp on for new users than Photoshop)

elstatec 06-25-2006 05:24 PM

very nice, but the facial features could do with some work on, say the eyes having some outline on for instance.

i cant get back into vectoring, just dont have hours and hours to spare.

Not bad...

For the record tho - Freehand > Illustrator happy:

actaully the drawing tools in flash are pretty damn superior to all those mentioned. it is by far the easiest to edit drawn lines.

if you can get a hold of this :

give it a try and youll see what i mean. ive found tons of those vid tutorials in the ngs so i imagine you can probably torrent them as well if thats your means of hacking programs.
