I remember watching that Happy Days episode when it originally aired. It was a HUGE deal at the time.

For those nubs that don't know...That episode is what coined the phrase "jumped the shark" which is used to describe the point in which anything (but typically tv shows) outstays its welcome.

For instance, some might say 'Friends' jumped the shark when ross and racheal hooked up the third time.

Happy Days 'jumped the shark' at that point later turning to Joanie & Chachi. Fucking gayness. (I watched Happy Days reruns alot)

RECOGNIZE.

'jumping the shark' basically means the show has departed too much from what it is supposed to be. For instance, some say... *sigh @ tired point of reference*... Galactica jumped the shrak at the end of season 2 when the show skipped a year in the story, transporting most of the major characters to new caprica and completely altering the show's stauts quo.
