Not fake whatsoever, they have amazing camoflage techniques and are one of the most intelligent underwater creatures, more so than dolphins.
I remember watching a BBC program a while back where they had an octopus performing loads of different puzzles and tests and it beat EVERY single one....was amazing

One of my favourite creatures, shame you don't see them often but I guess thats a good thing.

I still like Dolphins better, mainly because they are much more cuter (and friendlier?) Dolphins are the shit.

But Octopusses are cool....and they taste good happy:

EDIT: Not to be as rude as that comment was, I'd still rather an animal that would, instead of figuring out a way around a wall, just bash the wall down to get to the other side.

I'm not about to derail this thread. But if you ever get to see a dolhpin up close in the wild (or at the zoo) they are some thing else. Very awesome creatures. Plus they are the only other animal to have sex for pleasure happy:
