This just came out of my computer and don't know what it is.

I turned on my computer and several programs I constatly use are working fine ... but I'm unsure of what that part actually does, and if I'm screwed. |
Looks like the heatsink for your BIOS chip. Look around on your motherboard for a chip that has the same paste as on the bottom of the heatsink.

thats exactly what it is, a heatsink, check the mobo, vid card, and possibly the sound card

should be able to locate where it came from.. should have left soem thermal paste on the other end.

you should really take off the thermal grease and reapply. it's not going to transfer heat near as well like that. you'll get shitty contact, and may burn out the chip. it'll be for the motherboard.
