I just got my Stiletto 100 in the mail!

I just got my Stiletto in the mail!!! Woohoo!! I had preordered it a month or so ago. This baby is sweet! (for those who don't know what I'm talking about - it is a portable satellite radio from Sirius) I was getting a perfect signal on my deck. I'll give a longer review after I've tried all the features. So far I can say that the satellite signal was great when I was in my yard and on my deck. I lost the signal when I came inside but ... No problem! I have WiFi in the house! I switched to Internet Radio and within a few seconds it showed me four WiFi networks available. I picked mine and it connected without a hitch.

The earbuds are pretty good. Sound quality is great. The headset would probably get uncomfortable after awhile. It seemed to really squeeze my head and the little things that go in your ear started to hurt after a few minutes. Good be I just needed to adjust the thing. But I don't like "in ear" headsets anyway.

Next up: I'll test out the record function and also see how easy it is to download my music from my computer.

The real test comes in the morning when I go for a run. I'm praying the signal is strong enough for me to listen while I'm pounding the pavement. That's the main reason I bought this bad boy.

IPOD is all ya need.

Holy moly! I just noticed an awesome feature! You can go into Settings and select your favorite team (i.e I picked the Thrashers in the NHL category, Falcons in NFL, Alabama in College Football) and it will let you know when they are playing and give you the option to switch to the game. Nice!

You can also set the radio to record programing - a game or a song etc. The only problem with this is that you either have to set it up to go WiFi or make sure it is sitting in a place with a clear satelite signal.

Thats a nice feature about the thing..with the teams...but i usually choose to watch games on tv unless im at work and well...unless it';s an adult swim i don't really get away with bumping the hockey game.

My iPod was a source of constant frustration. I gave it to my daughter for Christmas two years ago. 40 gig unit. She returned it twice while under warranty. The first time they "fixed" it. The second time they replaced it. About a month after it was out of warranty it broke again. She threw it in a box and forgot about it. I found it and ased if I could have it. I got it working but just barely. It locks up all of the time. But not consistantly. One day it will play for a couple of hours - great for the flights I have to take. But then the next time it will freeze after ten minutes.

Now I have the Stiletto! It has 2 gigs of storage - plenty for me - PLUS sat radio and WiFi!!

I think if were traveling a lot i'd go for something like this. However, since I spend about 1hr in the car per day I don't think it's worth it for me.

I'll try to get some pictures of it tonight. And yes, I travel almost every week. Most of the time I'm in rental cars but some of the trips I drive my own car. You just can't beat having a sat radio for a long drive. But the original unit that I have is a "Plug and Play". I have a docking station in my car and a boom box in my house. I use it as an alarm clock and then take it with me when I go get in the car.

They also going to have car kits for the Stiletto but it is so new that they aren't out yet.

BTW - when you get a Sirius subscription they give you a password to use online. Alot of the content that they have on the satellite is available through their website. That's the way I've been doing it now. When I'm working out of my office I stream the radio through my PC.

Another feature I found a minute ago - Sports Ticker!

You can set it up to show all of the scores of your favorite teams even while you are listening to music - or another game. That way Stackem could listen to the Michigan game while he is in the tree stand and also keep up with the Ohio State score. LOL

Sat Radio Walkmans are great, but once you get into home theater or car audio its nothing but bullshit. 96kbps is just not high enough fidelity. The FCC won't give them a larger Spectrum to broadcast on either, so the more channels, means lees quality per channel. AGAIN something you should never have to worry about with your little unit, sounds fantastic.
