EA's done it again...

I should've known BF2142 wouln't work out of the box. mad:

I bought the DVD version at Future Shop tonight. I install the fucking game and then install the v1.01 patch (which is a joke this early in the game to have a patch). I run the game and everything seems fine.

I go to make a soldier and the game hangs. I have to hit the reset button on my tower to get out of it.

I reboot and get back in. My soldier has been made, apparently, so I foolishly try to select my soldier and get in the game. It hangs again, saying "Contacting EA Master Server".

Tower reset again.

What the hell do I have to do to get this stupid fucking game to run? What demon do I have to suck off and sell my soul to? What hoop am I forgetting to jump through?

Don't give me the "EA is crap/evil/stupid" responses. I already know that. Please help.

Well, the "Contacting Master Server" problem seems to have fixed itself, but I have more pressing issues now.

Singleplayer plays smoothly, but multiplayer is 100% unplayable. gg 10fps rolleyes:

Guess I'll be playing BF2 a while longer.
