It's a disease.......

Most of you guys know i collect 1/18 scale musclecars but.......

Also have a lil' 1/18 scale model plane collection going (it's in it's infancy) and have also collected a few of those McFarlane Hockey figures.

Well, it's nearing x-mas and i've been buying the lil' guy a Hess truck every year since he was born. Anyway, i've amassed a nice little collection for him with the addition of 3 more trucks today (2007 model and a '91 and '92 model from eBay) I only give him the "doubles" to play with because he tears the shit out of them. I plan on going back as far as i could and give them to him when he's older. At least he'll have enough beaten up trucks to have a bunch of spare parts should he ever need them....lol

Collecting is a disease. If you collect something, i recommend having it out on display so you can at least coup some of your money just by looking at it. Storing it away is a waste in my opinion.

I agree with ya, I'm a sucker for a history book with a sexy cover. I've read most of my collection but there are always the ones that just sit on my shelf looking all fancy & are just there for reference & pretty pictures. I've managed to quell my love for them since I no longer have to walk past 2nd hand bookshops on the way to uni, I was studying history yet I spent most of my money on history books that had no relevence to my course stupid: I'm also very interested in the German perspective of WW2 & have spent many an hour browsing http://forum.axishistory.com/ but I'm certainly no expert. A lot of the people on there are pretty smart & it's always amusing when they get into arguments.

BTW I think all this collectors stuff may just be a guy thing, my dad is absolutely nuts on 60s jazz music & motown. One of my mates is completely mad on photography & cameras. Most guys have some sort of hobby that absorbs them. I haven't met that many girls that are completely obsessed with collecting things, other than shoes. biggrin:

Eh. I used to collect comic books back when I was younger. Mainly for the stories, but also learning how the artists draw in that style. I don't collect'em anymore since I already have that style down, and I don't know. I guess comic books just aren't my thing anymore.

I started collecting old coins/bills and foreign coins/bills since my grandma gave me a 1921 sliver dollar she got from her mother (which one of my teachers "lost" when she asked to see it when I was in the 8th grade.) I also seem to have started collecting old lighters, mainly zippos.

I don't collect anything obsessively. I guess you could say I collect DVDs, but I only have 50 or so...not exactly an OCD-esque collection.

MP3s....If thats considered collecting. I have a good 15,000 now...

I used to collect CDs, but I had about 300 get stolen from me in one go, and I was sort of in an undeclared competition with a buddy so he got a huge leg up and I never bothered to regain my composure, so I've kinda given up.
