im not sure of the technical differences. i know the layout of the buttons are different. the d70s is obviously the "better" camera. you get what you pay for with nikon. it all depends what you want to use this camera for. if you want to take some nice shots to post on gf1 or other online photography things, then the d50 would probably suit you, with a good lens. if you want to go further with photography and do it as a freelance job or something, the d70s would be your best bet.

like i said, i have the d50 and it takes the quality pictures i want. only complaint is the slow button response at times, but thats probably because i dont fully know how to manipulate the camera's function.

i can get a bundle package on an ebay store for about the same price give or take $100 with 2 lenses, tamron 28mm - 80mm and a tamron 70mm - 300mm on either or nikon lenses, but from what ive read the tamron lenses actually have better quality, i just want to know if the extra $100 is really worth the noticable quality

i cant help you there. i wouldnt think there is much of a difference....i THINK i repeat THINK they are the same megapixel. i could be wrong.

they are, i think the differences are some of the functions, like IR remove versus a cable one, weight, and some preset exposure modes
