Just wondering who here has it or has played it. I'm pretty sure its the sequel to Operation Flashpoint, a game which I loved.
I think the general reviews its getting is about 80%. Its very realistic, as its predecessor was, when it comes to combat; meaning you can die after a few well placed shots and thus spawn back again.

The maps are totally HUGE, possible the biggest in any game. Sizes of over 400 square kilometers. 30 weapons, 30 vehicles, Sp/Mp, HDR lighting, etc etc...

"built upon an engine which allows for huge numbers of players, bandwidth and PC hardware willing numbers of 100+ are possible with game modes also as extensive."

Also what I saw and liked the idea was the 'Capture the Island' where battles can go on for days, overtaking villages. You could leave the game and come back to it later on. The community are always making mods for it too.

Edit: its out march 2007 in the uk but already out in germany/czech....hmm, lucky buggers

Ferich made a thread about this game somewhere - Looks pretty good for a game that is a bit dated like OpFlshpnt, I might try and hook this up.

PAL GAMERS TO BE TREATED TO EXCLUSIVE ARMA: ARMED ASSAULT FEATURES AND CONTENT

London, 20th December 2006 - 505 Games and Bohemia Interactive are today delighted to reveal that the PAL(1) release of the eagerly awaited combat simulation ArmA: Armed Assault will feature exclusive weapons, vehicles and mission content when released for PC on February 16th, 2007.

“We are really pleased to be able to enhance the ArmA experience with this excellent exclusive content for the game’s February launch”, said Marek Spanel, Project Lead at BIS. “Offering such exciting new features before the game has even launched is Bohemia’s way of showing our appreciation of the dedicated ArmA fan community and to reward gamers’ patience as the game readies for release.”

Lucky European gamers will experience a wealth of exciting exclusive features when ArmA: Armed Assault blasts into stores, including:

· Two new aircraft: take to the skies in the fearsome Su-34 Fighter and Su-34 Bomber
· Two new motorbikes: powerful “hogs of war” for both sides of the battle with the TT650 and the M1030 military motorcycles
· Four new weapons: the Russian rifle AKS74PSO; another Russian favourite the KSVK; the giant US-designed M107 and US rifle variant the M16A4

The PAL version of ArmA: Armed Assault will also launch with an exclusive new mission called “Blood, Sweat and Tears”. This assignment sees players cast as either special operative Cpt. Mike Lambert or Pvt. Rich Angelo in an open-ended scenario that takes place on one very long morning on the bloody battlefields of Sahrani.

ArmA: Armed Assault, published by 505 Games and developed by Bohemia Interactive, is scheduled for release for PC on February 16th.

PC Gamer Review

http://www.computerandvideogames.com/ar ... 2&site=pcg

Armed Assault is a soldier sim. We see a boatload every year, but this one is special. This is the follow-up to Operation Flashpoint, the game that was so realistic it became a professional military simulator.

The raw facts about ArmA tell one hell of a story: 400 square kilometres of island to explore, 30 different weapons, 30 controllable vehicles, accurately modelled bullet ballistics, a full weather system, accurate tides and constellations, pesky insects...

It's the product of developers obsessed with getting things right, which makes their decision to release it in a clearly broken state utterly baffling.

We reviewed the version that's been on sale in Europe for a while and which is also in line for release here: and it's tragically, dismally broken. It's playable and enjoyable on many levels, but level-breaking bugs, game-crashing bugs and pathfinding bugs mean you don't know what level of quality you're getting from one mission to the next: will it be the astonishing military sim, or a comedic run around?

-------------------------------------

Well after so many problems with the demo and this review basically saying how it'll take months, maybe years before its running well enough, I'm giving Arma a miss.
Tis a shame but its not as if they haven't had time to fix things. I'm very disappointed, so FUCK BOHEMIA, potential just isn't good enough cuss:
