Would you agree
With this cover of Rolling Stone?
John Mayer = Slow hand Jr? Anybody here think John Mayer is a good guitarist? |
LUL
i guess hes a decent guitarist, but he makes lame music |
I have the Eric Clapton's Crossroads Guitar Festival dvd, and he's on it. He actually is a pretty decent guitarist and I've been told he's won a few jazz "awards" but his music still fucking sucks. He should do more guitar festivals and less college rock.

He makes money doing what he's doing. You cant get mainstream cash doing jazz-guitar. No 12 year old girls listen to jazz-guitar.
|
I agree, his music is pretty lame, although i have heard some of his guitar stuff, and its pretty good.
Was just curious to see if any of you music freaks thought of him as a good guitarist, that cover just kind of made me say wtf. |

He's a really decent guitarist. I've listened to live albums of him just jamming, and it's good stuff.
In retrospect, he's just like the modern Clapton; A guy with lots of playing potential, churning out shitty albums like after-dinner shits. |
haha, yeah i just listened to a few things, and i will say he is defiantly a talented guitarist.
|
Here's the deal with John Mayer. He didn't like his early stuff. He only did it because his label knew it would make money. Then he started doing stuff as the John Mayer Trio which was a much more blues oriented style. After doing that, he realized that he wanted to do what he wanted, not what the label wanted and started playing more of the way he wanted to. Hence Continuum which is actually a pretty good album. If you've ever heard him play real blues stuff, you will recognize his talent.

id totally fuck john mayer if i could.
