Blackjack

I knew the basic rules of the game (the whole 21 thing and hit/stand) for a while, but just recently I was listening to my bro and his friend studying it for a trip to Atlantic City they're taking. They're planning on hitting up the blackjack tables and wanted to learn the suggested "guide lines" and other odds.

I learned it really well and I must say, blackjack is fun as hell! Once you get down some of the details of the odds, it's fun that can last you a good bit if you're not playing totally reckless.

Any of you guys ever play it?

Is there a place online that you can play with other friends against the HOUSE for free? I know some of the poker places, but never really heard much about blackjack. We should get together some time in a room and play nookas.

I've never played blackjack for money. I've only played Texas Hold'em for money. I prefer that because you're playing against the other players as opposed to playing against the house.

Tell them to watch out if their dealer looks like this guy:

My uncle won 60 or 70 grand in vegas playing blackjack.

I played a bit while I was down there last year, and it is fun.

well if you want to play strictly by the book (which you should, best odds), there is a chart you can find all over the internet that tells you exactly when to hit or stay or splt depending on what the dealer is showing, its not too hard to memorize.

Casino Dealer: 17.
Number Two: Hit me.
Casino Dealer: You have 17, sir.
Number Two: I like to live dangerously.
Casino Dealer: [Hit for four] :21. Very good, sir.
[to Austin]
Casino Dealer: :5.
Austin Powers: I'll stay.
Casino Dealer: I suggest you hit, sir.
Austin Powers: I also like to live dangerously.
Casino Dealer: 20 beat your 5 sir. I'm sorry, sir.
Austin Powers: Well I must admit, cards aren't my bag, baby.

Lois: I'm upset because you never listen to me. This is Atlantic City all over again.
[Lois and Peter at Blackjack table]
Dealer: You've got 20!
Peter: Hit me.
Lois: Peter, don't.
Peter: Hit me.
Dealer: 21!
Peter: Hit me.
Lois: Peter.
Peter: Hit me.
Dealer: That's 30
Peter: Hit me.

or you could be like those MIT students who designed that system that helped them win millions....or at least i think that actually happened.

its not a difficult game, its really just taking chances and knowing when to stop.

you really should never take chances in blackjack, you should be playing the odds and the others at your table will expect that. or you could learn to count cards rock:

My uncle counts cards on a team in vegas sometimes.... too much work for not really a payoff though. Then again it is vegas, so I guess it's not work. Lot of counting and numbers though.
